Yesterday, just hanging out
After a day at the lake and tumbling and already have dinner eaten we were just hanging out outside. For once it was just nice outside and not so hot anymore. Soren was all happy, being out, crackers to munch and everybody around for a little while.
I would love to decorate more, somehow we just never have the right space for it most of the time. Never any extra dressers or low cabinetts in the house to put decorations on or out of reach, so the only way right now is that it hangs up on the wall or ceiling or is untasty and unbreakable. Soren is sure he is testing it in any way or shape or form. LOL
Das war mal eine Pusteblume bevor Soren seine Finger dran hatte.
I have no idea how you call the flower how it turns after being a dandelion, the one you can blow away. Perhabs somebody can help me out? No matter how, it was there anymore after Soren was done.

Just Monday!
Everybody knows that we are desperately waiting and hoping for rain and it never comes. Ok, once a month we get a little bit of a sprinkle, most of the time it is raining all around us, just not HERE.
Today the sky was covered with gray clouds and there was a prediciting of thunderstorm, but this doesn't say much either, so we left the house earlier today for tumbling and stopped at the South Pool in town. It is on our side of the town, so really convenient to get to. Not as nice as the City Park Pool, which as the one end to get slowly in the deeper water and a big mushroom.
But the kids had fun anyw2ay and it was not so packed there, unfortuntely this pool is closing in two days for the summer. About an hour after arriving there, the lifeguards closed the pool, too. due to thunder and lightning and it actually rained.
At tumbling. There is no way to get good pictures there from the girls, but Soren is up for goofy snapshoots. LOL

Crafty Or Grocery Shopping in Style & more
I am back on my sewing machine. It caught quite a bit dust since way before moving. It was in February the last time I remember using it and who knows me well, knows that's not normal for me. (The last project.) But as it looks I am hooked again.
A few days ago I fixed two dresses for Chiara she just got, but were too wide for our skinny little thing and recycled a shirt I bought (I didn't fir well and I lost the receipt) and made a dress for Bella out of it. She is all proud of a "big girl dress". Silly girl.
Going Green is the big theme in the grocery stores and by now we own a few "green bags" in the colors green or black. We still forget them pretty often, but working on not using so many plastic bags anymore, especially because most of them have holes in by the time we are home and can not be reused for anything.
So today my project was to make a Shopping Bag. I fell in love with some blue, white and brown fabric that was already waiting to be used for something special. A shopping bag is not so special, but something I would use myself, so I actually pulled my special fabric out and cut it after making a pattern from a regular TARGET(for all the Target lovers) plastic bag.
Leland's opinion "This is the ugliest thing I have ever seen!". Did I really ask him? Yes. ButI am trying to shake it off, because I like the result.
It gets a lot smaller folded up and can fit in your purse while not needed.
While I was cutting fabric, Soren testen strolling through the kitchen with Chiara's doll stroller and didn't really want to give it up again. And no, it's not a big bruise on his arm, just red maker.
Since the end of June we truly have a bad luck string. And it keeps going and going.
Not even two weeks ago our DVD player broke, it just doesn't recognize and DVDs anymore.
This weekend, was NO storm, blue sky with a few itty bitty clouds and after I hear some rambling outside I go and look what happened. Last time I heard such sounds our umbrella was on top of the roof, not this time. Now it was bent and totally broken. But not just that. All the toys are spread in the backyard and Soren's froggy pool is on the other side PLUS the big trampline is upside down hanging in the neighbors fence which is damaged, too.
Thanks a lot. We have no clue what happened. But I had enough.

Soren & Eric Carle - just peek
Eines unsere Lieblingsbuecher ist 'Die Raupe Nimmersatt' von Eric Carle und auch 'Brown Bear, Brown Bear' . Wir habe noch einige andere Buecher von diesem Autor und alle drei Kinder lieben sie.
Als wir noch in Amherst, Massachusetts, wohnten, wurde dort gerade das Eric Carle Museum eroeffnet. Das war vor ueber fuenf Jahren. Damals habe ich einige Postkarten von den Teiren mitgenommen um sie bei den Maedels aufzuhaengen. Daraus ist nie etwas geworden. Doch endlich habe ich mich dazu aufgerafft, mal wieder etwas kreatives zu tun, nicht nur am PC, und habe Bilderrahmen von Ikea angepinselt und die Postkarten damit in Soren's Zimmer aufgehaengt.
Damit ihr einen Einblick in Soren's Reich bekommt, sind hier einige Bilder.

So, today, I finally decided it's time to get creative, not just on the computer, I got the IKEA frames out and paint andcolored the frames, put the postcards on and hung them up in Soren's room.

NOTE: My mom brought this table and chair from Germany in her suitcase taken apart for Isabell when she was not even one yet to California. I am so glad I kept it.
I got smart and put the books down in the basket and the toys in the shelf so he can easier reach them and he loves it.

Soren kann ganz alleine stehen ohne sich fest zuhalten, er kann auch ohne festhalten ein paar Schritte tun, aber in der Regel will er einfach nicht. Er will eine Hand, oder eine Wand, irgendwas zum festhalten, auch wenn es wackelig ist.
Hier ist der Beweis, er hat was in der Hand und schon braucht man keine Wand. Scheibe Brot tuts auch.

Soren can stand all by himself, he can walk a few steps all by himself, we have seen it, but usually he just doesn't without a hand or without a wall. But here you can see holding on to a slice of bread and he CAN. LOL
RED and ROUND
Vor ein paar Tagen hatten wir noch ein bisschen Zeit bevor wir unseren Termin hatten und es hat wenig Sinn gemacht wieder den ganzen Weg nachhause zu fahren, also sind wir eine Ausfahrt weiter und haben die neue Plaza erkundet. Es ist noch vieles "under construction", doch der neue Target hat schon aufgemacht.
A few days ago we had some time to waste bevor our appointment and it didn't make much sense to drive all the way back home, so we wnt an exit further and checked out the new plaza there. It's still "under construction" for the most part, but Target and few other places already opened. The kids wanted to check out PETCO and take one of the hamsters home. Sure, our cats would have loved to have a extra little snack. LOL
The best part about the plaza is "Barnes and Nobles" opening this month there. The closest one is in Austin and everybody here loves books and a cup of coffee (the grown ups), so once a while we might make the trip out here to browse.

The Big Read
I love books and used to be a bookworm, anyweher and everywhere I was I had a book close by, I was reading a lot while I was pregnant to, there is always a period time when I have to wait for the kids to be done, to pick them up, or just in the waiting room, or just because I wnted ti. Now I entertain Soren or he me in those moments when we are out instead of sticking my nose in a book.And by the time I go to bed my eyes are falling closed on my way. But if I begin a book then i have a rel hard time to set it down before I get to the last page.
Carol posted this, and I had fun remembering all the great books I used to read (and some that I was forced, err... encouraged, to read in school).
According to The Big Read, the average adult has only read 6 of the top 100 books on this list. How many have you read? Look at the list: Bold those you have read. Italicize those you intend to read. Underline the books you LOVE. .
I just don't know if this list of the top 100 books would be the same in Germany. I give my best try to see if i can translate all the titles for me to mark them. LOL
I have no clue how to underline anything here, I didn't figure that out yet. And funny is only that I have seen at least 34 movies made from books of this list.

Saturday Pictures
It's Sunday, no already Monday and we have no pictures to post from today, but we took quite a few on Saturday and have a few to share with you.
The girls spent quite a bit of time outside just splashing and jumping on the trampoline until they decided that it is way to hot outside. LOL. It took them a couple hours to notice that. LOL

Soren instead was napping quite a while and I just stayed inside where the A/C is working nicely.
Later on the day we actually had to leave the house, or movies were due to bring back - I hate paying late fees - and we were out of milk. So we got our errands done, stopped at home to fill up our icebox with drinks and snacks, grabbed chairs and went to the Saddle Club horse show/games just around the corner. It is really just around the corner that I of course missed the entrance to the arena right away because it was way too close to our street. (By the time we went back home it was dark and I missed our road, too, LOL, they are seriously missing street laterns out here in the country), but eventually I will not drive past the house anymore. LOL
Chiara L O V E S horses, so she was all excited to go there, hoping to get to sit on a horse, too, of course and we spent all evening hanging out there. The kids had a blast, playing with Neva and Lorna, catching grasshoppers with Landon and thanks to Heidi and Neva did get to pat and ride on the ponies. Even Soren got to be the first time in the saddle of a real horse and loved it. Not a little bit scared, just enjoying it, having a blast and not wanting to get back down. There is our second horse crazy child now. the pictures are not going to justice on how much he enjoyed sitting on the back of the ponies. He was so happy being outside, no fussing, no crying, no whining, playing, lounging like the big once and that till late that evening.
