Daddy is learning more and more how to keep me happy - his favorite way is to hand be to Mami - and the other one is playing his guitar to me. I love it, especially when it is loud and fast. So playing a lullaby to me SOFTLY doesn't work. But I don't mind helping him playing. - Soren

Daddy lernt immer wieder etwas mehr wie er mich gluecklich machen kann - am liebesten gibt mich naemlich einfach zurueck zu Mama - aber Gitarre spielen funktioniert auch. I ch liebe es, aber es muss laute und schnelle Musik sein. Wenn er ein ruhiges Schlaflied anfaengt zu spielen, fange ich an zu schreien und das laut. Aber ich helfe ihm gern ein bisschen. - Soren

Krabbelstunde - Playgroup

Heute morgen war das zweite Mal Krabbelstunde fuer Soren und seine kleinen Freunde. Und dieses mal habe ich doch daran gedacht die Kamera mitzunehmen und ein paar Fotos zu knipsen. Die Kinder, die kleinen und grossen hatten alle ihren Spass und so schoen miteinander gespielt, deutsche Kinderlieder gesungen und auch die Mamas haben die Unterhaltung genossen, die zwei Stunden sind wir im Fluge vergangen.


This morning was the second playgroup for Soren and his little friends. And this time I didn't forget to pack the camera and took some pictures. The little and the big kids played all really nice and had fun, sung songs and enjoyed the time with their new friends. Just as the moms with some adult conversation. The two hours there passed so quickly.

uns Soren natuerlich mittendrin, so gefaellt es dem am Besten, er ist es auch nicht anders von zuhause aus gewoehnt - LOL

Roadtrip south - IKEA

Leland's motorcycle license plate was ready for pick up in Georgetown. And if we already have a reason to go and drive towards a big city, we use the day and stop somewhere else, too. So after dropping the girls off at the school in the morning, Sandra and I packed the little ones in the car and drove towards Austin. And with two Germans on the road, you can guess where we stopped and spend a few hours just strolling.





Stevie had lots of fun exploring all of the store and especially testing out how comfy Swedish beds are. Soren was quite happy sitting in the shoppping cart and chewing on all kinds of things, especially on the coasters for the living room - color lime green. Sandra and I agree that it's just nice to go to Ikea, have breakfast and look at everything without even buying much even we could find lots of items to take home. It is a true European store.



Leland's Motorard Kennzeichen hat in Georgetown darauf gewartet abgeholt zu werden. Wenn wir schon einen Grund haben in RichtungAustin zu gahren, dann nutzen wir das natuerlich gruendlich aus. Gerstern morgen habe ich die Maedels frueh an der Schule abgeliefert und dann haben Sandra und ich unsere zwei Kleinen ins Auto gepackt und uns auf den Weg nach Austin gemacht. Und ratet mal wo wir zwei (Deutsche) Halt gemacht haben und ein paar Stunden gebummelt sind.

Stevie ging auf Abenteuerreise durch Ikea bewaffnet mit einem Kuechenutensilien und hat auch getestet wie bequem schwedische Betten sind. Soren hat sich mit dem Einkaufswagen durch die Gegend schieben lassen und alles moeglich angekieft, ganz besonders die Glasuntersetzer fuers Wohnzimmer - lime gruen. Sandra und ich sind uns einig, dass es immer schoen zu Ikea zu gehen, durch zu bummeln, zu fruehstuecken auch wenn wir nicht viel kaufen. D.h. aber nicht, dass wir vieles finden wuerden, das wir gerne mit nachhause nehmen wuerden.

OMA - Das Bild ist extra fuer dich gemacht worden, damit du sehen kannst wie gut Soren inzwischen im Einkaufswagen sitzen kann und unser genaehtes Cover auch benutzt wird. Ist doch richtig schoen geworden.

Out of words & New friends

I know that kids learn something new everyday, but sometimes I am really suprised what they already do know and come up with.

Isabell was doing a real good job reading Night Creatures tonight. She only got stuck at a few words and one of them was 'cough'. So I corrected her and for fun just pretended to cough.

And Bella tells me 'Stop, breathing CO2 in my face!'

I expected perhabs 'Don't cough at me!' or 'Stop It!''. But for sure not the expression CO2 and knowing what it is and means. She's just 1st grader. I was speechless.


Ich weiss, dass Kinder jeden Tag etwas Neues lernen, aber manchmal bin ich wirklich ueberrascht was sie schon wissen und was ploetzlich aus ihrem Mund kommt.

Isabell hat heute abend das Buch "Night Creatures" fast komplett alleine gelesen und ist nur ueber ein paar einzelene Woerter gestolpert. Eines davon war das Wort 'cough' (Husten). Ich habe sie korrigiert und aus Spass so getan als, ob ich Husten muss.

Und Bella sagt zu mir - in Englisch - 'Hoer auf mir CO2 ins Gesicht zu atmen!'

Ich habe erwartet, dass sowas wie 'Huste mich nicht an!' oder 'Hoer auf!' von ihr kommt, aber sicher nicht der Ausdruck CO2 und dass sie auch noch weiss was es ist und bedeutet. Sie ist ja grad mal in der 1. Klasse. Ich war sprachlos.

Soren made new friends today. And NO, I am not talking about the little girl on the picture, we know her already for years.

Soren hat heute viele neue Freundschaften geschlossen. Und ich spreche NICHT von dem Maedel auf dem Foto, sie kennen wir schon seit Jahren.

But from friends with four legs. Counting four dogs and four cats. And he was surrounded by the dogs until I got the camera out.

Aber von vierbeinigen Freunden. 4 Hunden und 4 Katzen. Die Hunde haben ihn richtig belagert bis ich die Kamera herausgeholt habe.

note 2 - It is pretty much impossible to get a serious face from Soren if he is naked. He has way too much fun.

BIG winterstorm ...

... we are still waiting for it. The news kept telling us that there is a big storm, one of the worst ever and freezing rain and we got nothing but a few drops. - I really don't mind ice outside, wewould just stay home, and finally would have some for the bag of salt which the movers insisted on packing in Massachusetts.
It got cold for three days and that was it. Soren was all bundled up for school pick up today, thick winter jacket, scarf, hat and gloves - he was not really able to move anymore, but he was warm.

Bella and Chiara are still waiting for snow.

STARKER Wintersturm .... wir warten noch immer darauf. Die Nachrichten haben den ganzen Tag Sturmwarningen gebarcht fuer einen der schlimmsten Winterstuerme, Eisregen, .... und es war nix, grad mal ein paar Tropfen Regen. - Ich haette nichts gegen ein biswschen Eis draussen, wir wuerden einfach zuhause bleiben und haette auch endlich mal Verwendung fuer das Streusalz, das Moebelpacker in Massachusetts unbedingt einpacken mussten.

Es war grad drei Tage mal kalt und Soren war von Kopf bis Fuss eingepackt, als wir die Maedels von der Schule anholten mit dicker Winterjacke, Schal, Muetze und Handschuhen.

Bella und Chiara warten immer noch auf Schnee.

Family Time

I guess we don't really need more as one chair in our living room for those four. It's big enough if we squeeze and pack them like sardines on a pile. Just earplugs are necessary for me, because one will scream due to being squeezed. LOL

Ein Sessel im Wohnzimmer reicht vollkommen fuer diese vier. Er ist gross genug when wir sie alle quetschen wie Sardinen in einer Buechse. Aber ich brauch dann ein Paar Ohrenstoepsel, denn bald wird einer oder eine schreien.

Soren kann alleine stehen wenn er sich festhaelt, hochziehen tut er sich aber nur wenn er sich bei jemanden an den Haenden festhaelt. Mal sehen wie lange es dauert bis nichts mehr sicher ist.

Soren can stand all by himself if he holds on, he only pulls himself up if he holds another person's hands. Let's see how long it takes until nothing is safe anymore.

Playdate with Gabriel

Soren's little friend Gabriel came over with his mom on Monday. Little is the right expression, because Gabriel is 2.5 months older, but Soren is bigger - heavier - and taller by now and believe me Gabriel is not tiny either. Those two boys are just two funny together. Usually one is happy and the other one crying or whining. Now it even goes so far that one cries and the other one is laughing about it. LOL.

Yesterday both were quite happy and playing on the floor. And it was hillarious. My sweet little boy is not putting up with getting his toys snag out of his hands, indeed the opposite everything Gabriel has he needs to have and just steals it from him. Believe me we have enough toys for both, but it just doesn't appear like it. Eventually Gabriel will figure out that he just needs to take off with the toy because he knows how to crawl while Soren is still on one spot stuck.

Sorens kleiner Freund Gabriel war am Montag mit seiner Mutter zu Besuch bei uns. "Klein" ist passend fuer ihn, da er 2.5 Monate aelter ist, aber Soren ist inzwischen schwerer und auch groesser, und ihr koennt mir glauben, dass Gabriel auch kein kleines Baby ist. Halt zwei Pfundskerlchen. Diese zwei Jungs sind einfach zu witzig zusammen. Normalerweise haben wir ein glueckliches Baby und ein knatschiges oder unausgeschlafenes. Die wechseln sich da immer ab. Jetzt sind sie schon soweit, dass einer heult oder schreit und der andere lacht ihn aus. Jungs.

Gestern waren beide ganz gluecklich und haben auf dem Boden gespielt. Und es war zum schiessen. Mein kleiner lieber Kerl hat sich nicht so einfach die Spielsachen aus den Haenden nehmen lassen, ganz im Gegenteil, der hat sie Gabriel sogar noch geklaut und nicht mehr rausgerueckt. Als dass wir nicht genuegend Spielsachen fuer beide haetten. Irgendwann kriegt Gabriel schon noch raus, dass er im Vorteil ist, da er krabbeln und einfach davon koennte mit dem Spielzeug, Soren steckt noch auf dem Fleck fest.

Visit to the City Park

It was a cold weekend and the weather outside got even more ugly by now, but Sunday afternoon the sun came out for a while and we bundled up the kids and went to the park. You can not stay indoors for days. The kids stayed warm with running and playing and sliding and swinging. The boys were tugged in warm with blankets and had good naps in the fresh air. When it was time to leave they still protested even with red cold noses.

Es war ein kaltes Wochenende und inzwischen ist es draussen auch richtig nass und kalt, aber am Sonntag kam die Sonne ein bisschen , wir haben uns dick angezogen und sind fuer ein Weilchen auf den Spielplatz gegangen. Man kann einfach nicht tagelang nur im Haus sein. Die Kinder blieben warm, da sie entweder gerannt, geschaukelt, gerutscht oder gespielt haben. Die Jungs waren in Decken eingepackt im Kinderwagen und haben an der frischen Luft gut geschlafen. Als es Zeit war zu gehen, haben sie protestiert und das trotz roter kalter Nasen.

He is always up for nonsense and giggling and gets noesier with it every day.

Er ist jetzt schon immer fuer Unsinn zu haben und kringelt sich vor Lachen und wird dabei jeden Tag lauter.

Fun with Daddy

The girls were off school from Friday to Monday and also Leland has a long weekend and has off for another day. The kids enjoy it immensly when he has time for them just to play and climb all over him. Soren is still easy to satisfy, but Chiara truly is a little monkey. Whenever he goes to work, Bella wants to know exactly if and when he comes home again.

Die Maedels hatten von Freitag bis Montag schulfrei und auch Leland hat ein langes Wochenende und noch einen weiteren Tag frei. Die Kinder geniessen es sehr, dass er zuhause und ganz besonders da er Zeit zum spielen hat. Es ist immer eines zum kuscheln da oder klettert auf ihm herum. Soren ist noch leicht zufrieden zu stellen, aber Chiara ist ein richtiges Aeffchen. Immer wenn er auf die Arbeit geht, will Bella ganz genau wissen, ob und wann er wieder nach Hause kommt.

Cheerios

It is never just the way it looks. I am sitting comfy with a sleeping baby on the couch and snack on some peanuts right out of the can. Just thinking the time will be over so fast that he is so "little". I just love watching him.
It didn't take long one eye opened then the other one and a hand came grabbing for the can. A very insisting little hand and a big smile. I let our little peanut try lots of things, but no PEANUTS. So I got up and got him a little bowl filled with cheerios. Everything ends up in his mouth within seconds - edible or not. Not this time. He is sitting on my lap with both hands in the bowl, squishing them, holding them between his fingers and throwing them everywhere like confetti. At least he had his fun.

Photosession

No, we were not bored or had nothing better to do, - actually the opposite - but we wanted to and took pictures again yesterday and played around. Also even Soren is just wearing an over all doesn't automatically mean we have sunny weather here. No way, they heater is turned on HIGH, because it is freezing cold outside. Finally. All that's missing now is snow and sleet. Then it would be a good reason to stay home, or to get all bundled up for a snowball fight or a jumping round on the trampoline outside. But perhabs we just have to wait until Easter again as last year for snow in Texas. I wonder how Soren would react on Soren, probably just eat it up. LOL. The girls are wishing for snow so please send it our way.

Nee, wir hatte keine Langweile oder nichts besseres zu tun, ganz im Gegenteil, aber wir hatten mal wieder Lust und haben gestern Fotos geknipst. Und auch wenn Soren nur leicht bekleidet ist, heisst das nicht gleich, dass wir hier wieder nur Sonnenschein haben. Stattdessen nur dass die Heizung auf HOCH eingestellt ist, da es draussen eisig kalt ist. Es fehlt nur noch der Schnee. Dann haetten wir vielleicht auch einen Grund nicht vor die Tuere zu gehen oder uns warm anzuziehen und raus fuer eine Schneeballschlacht oder eine Runde aufs Trampolin.Aber vielleicht muessen wir auch wieder nur bis Ostern warten fuer Schnee in Texas. Ich wuesste gerne wie Soren darauf reagieren wuerde. Mit hoger Wahrscheinlichkeit wuerde er den Schnee auffuttern. LOL. Die Maedels wuenschen sich aber Schnee so sehr. Also bitte schickt ihn in unsere Richtung.

This afternoon ... - Heute Nachmittag ...

.... I had a real fussy moment or two, and I got really mad because Mami took a picture instead of picking me up right away. That was so mean from her. - Soren

.... war ich fuer einen oder vielleicht auch zwei Momente richtig knatschig. Und ich wurde dann auch richtig sauer, da Mami leiber ein Foto gemacht hat, anstatt mich gleich hochzunehmen. Das war so gemein von ihr. - Soren
